Tai Murray

Praised by The New York Times as “superb” and celebrated by Muso Magazine for her “technically flawless” and “vivacious” style, violinist Tai Murray stands out as a musical voice of her generation. With a reputation for elegance and effortless playing, she forges a deep connection with her audience through her expressive phrasing and refined sound. Influenced by the great Yuval Yaron and Franco Gulli, Murray’s musical prowess is evident in her sophisticated bowing and nuanced vibrato.

A winner of the Avery Fisher Career Grant in 2004 and a BBC New Generation Artist from 2008 to 2010, Murray has made significant contributions to both classical and contemporary music. Her dynamic career includes solo performances with major ensembles such as the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra and the Royal Liverpool Symphony Orchestra, as well as a notable world premiere of Malcolm Hayes’ violin concerto at the BBC Proms.

Murray’s global recital schedule has taken her to prestigious venues including Berlin, Chicago, London, Madrid, Carnegie Hall in New York, and Washington D.C. Her discography includes critically acclaimed recordings of Ysaye’s six sonatas for solo violin and works by American composers, available on prominent labels such as harmonia mundi and Mirare.
